1948 Bowman Warren Spahn #18 PSA Mint 9. At the time of this card's release, it might have been difficult for bubblegum buyers to imagine that they were contemplating the profile of the man who would become the game's most accomplished left-handed pitcher. The passage of years (and nearly two decades'-worth of regular issue Spahn cards) would tell the tale, however, and enthusiasts remain especially fond of this straightforward and pleasing, rookie-year portrayal.

The future Hall of Famer is paid appropriate tribute by this superb example, which stands as one of just eight copies in PSA Mint 9 holders (none higher) among a robust census that accounts for more than 500 specimens. Top-quality centering, unerring print resolution, and the total absence of handling's effects distinguish this remarkable survivor which - though rendered entirely in black-and-white - nevertheless carries a tremendous measure of inimitable glamour.
