    Description

1948 Bowman Warren Spahn #18 PSA Mint 9 - Only One Higher. Warren Spahn stands on the sixth ring of the career wins ladder. Spahn's figure of 363 victories has never been bested in the Live Ball era, and as of today there is not a pitcher within thirty games of the southpaw Braves ace who didn't register at least the vast majority of his wins prior to 1920. This fact becomes all the more remarkable when considering that Spahn left for World War II combat after appearing in only four games in 1942. He wouldn't post his first career victory until 1946, when he was twenty-five years old. Randy Johnson was a 25-year old rookie and made a valiant effort but retired with 303 wins. Stan Musial once joked that Spahn would never make it into the Hall of Fame only because he would never stop pitching.

Graded PSA Mint 9. One of nine to earn the Mint rating with one Gem MT to claim supremacy. A wonderful pack-fresh marvel. Each corner displays a well-defined right angle. Not a hint of vintage gum or wax staining that so often spoils the fun, just some light toning. By most means this card is fresh from the pack and has barely aged a day in the last seventy years!
