Description
1948 Bowman Warren Spahn #18 PSA Mint 9 - None Higher! Warren Spahn stands on the sixth ring of the career wins ladder. Spahn's figure of 363 victories has never been bested in the Live Ball era, and as of today there is not a pitcher within thirty games of the southpaw Braves ace who didn't register at least the vast majority of his wins prior to 1920. This fact becomes all the more remarkable when considering that Spahn left for World War II combat after appearing in only four games in 1942. He wouldn't post his first career victory until 1946, when he was twenty-five years old. Randy Johnson was a 25-year old rookie and made a valiant effort but retired with 303 wins. Stan Musial once joked that Spahn would never make it into the Hall of Fame only because he would never stop pitching.A wonderful pack-fresh marvel. Graded PSA Mint 9. One of only ten graded Mint with none higher!
