1945-46 Caramelo Deportivo Ray Dandridge "Rookie" #25 PSA VG 3. Ray Dandridge was one of the finest fielders and hitters to ever play baseball but never played one game in the Major Leagues. A victim of racial segregation, Dandridge's career lasted from 1933-1949 playing in the Negro League and in Mexico. Although his talents would have been enough to warrant a call to the majors even after 14 years, it was not to happen for Dandridge. In 1949, he batted .362, when most veterans generate only modest statistics in their final years, Ray batted an amazing .360 retiring with a .355 lifetime batting average. His fielding ability was such that his peers have said he never made more than two errors in a season. Dandridge only appears in two sets - the 1945-46 and 1946-47 Caramelo Deportivo series. This 1945 "rookie" card presents very nicely. Just some corner wear and a few wrinkles. The image is bold and crisp. Graded PSA VG 3, one of three at this grade with none graded higher.
