    Description

1945-46 Caramelo Deportivo Martin Dihigo #65 PSA Poor 1. Martin Dihigo was quite possibly the finest all-around player of his or any generation ever to step onto a baseball diamond. First baseman, Third baseman, outfielder and even pitcher, Dihigo excelled at every position and to this day is recognized by his peers for his immense talent. He is a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame in Mexico, Cuba and as of 2006, the ultimate baseball shrine in Cooperstown. The very thin paper stock Caramelo Deportivo or "Sporting Caramels" were circulated in Cuba in 1945-46 and are among the most significant foreign baseball sets ever produced. Graded PSA Poor 1, there is creasing but none of the massive reverse surface loss so common with this set. A key rookie appearance.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
