Description
1941 Play Ball Joe DiMaggio #71 PSA NM-MT 8. With its appealing and colorful, "Deco"-style motif, this early card of Joe DiMaggio hails from the last "Play Ball" series featuring color to its portrayals. Joltin' Joe's '41 depiction is a perfect combination of facial exertion and natural swing, nicely balanced by the soothing effect of the illustration's background tones.Graded PSA NM-MT 8. Among a total census of now over 800 submissions to PSA, just a half-dozen have been judged finer than this extremely satisfying example. Having totally avoided the age-toning to which the Play Ball issues were routinely susceptible, the image of DiMaggio on the obverse is set inside slight off white borders, and the back is similar in character. The card's overall appearance betrays no meaningful evidence of past circulation.
