    Description

1941 Phil Rizzuto Original News Photograph, PSA/DNA Type 1. Yankees shortstop Phil Rizzuto was a five-time All-Star, seven-time World Series champion and the 1950 American League MVP. These accomplishments loom even greater when you consider that the 5-6, 150-pound Rizzuto was told to pursue a career as a shoe-shine boy, not a ballplayer, by an unimpressed New York Giants coach. This 8x10" image with white borders pictures Scooter making a leaping catch in his pinstriped Yankees garb. The scene is familiar to card collectors as it is the image used for his rookie trading card debut from the 1948 Bowman series. Back stamped "WM. C. Greene" with the player's name written in pencil. Crimping to paper. LOA from PSA/DNA Type 1.
