    Description

1940 Play Ball Joe Jackson (Superman Back) #225 PSA EX-MT 6. The 1940 Play Ball set has long been a favorite among collectors. Play Ball improved upon their simple 1939 design by adding a banner that displayed the player's name, which was flanked by a glove, bat and catcher's mask. The creativity and the inclusion of Old Timers made for an impressive production. "Shoeless" Joe Jackson is one of the keys of this set. Obviously he was seen as their peers. Interestingly enough, the bio on the card's back makes no mention whatsoever of the Black Sox Scandal, and simply notes that Jackson's career ended in 1920. Graded PSA EX-MT 6. The card is very clean with precisely centered graphics and an ad for "Superman" is found on the reverse.
