1940 Play Ball Joe Jackson #225 PSA EX-MT 6. A poor, uneducated farm boy who was dragged down the wrong path by his teammates, or a money-hungry schemer looking for a fast buck? Our money is on the former, and as such we have no shortage of affection for Shoeless Joe, the batter that Babe Ruth himself claimed to emulate. He sure does have a pretty swing in the image that dominates the obverse of this tough Play Ball card, though that is due in part to the razor-sharp registration and complete absence of defects to the surface. Only the imperfect centering and lightest of corner touches prevent this card from moving up to the peak of the population charts. Definitely one of the strongest cards you'll find in a PSA 6 slab.
