    Description

1940 Play Ball Baseball Joe DiMaggio #1. The "Yankee Clipper" Joe DiMaggio remains one of the most popular of all past New York Yankees Hall of Famers. The top player in the game is often given the singular distinction of being the #1 card in any given card set, which often results in difficulty finding a high-grade example. This is certainly the case here, as the 1940 Play Ball Joe DiMaggio card offered has its share of condition issues. Still an opportunity to acquire an early card featuring a player who was at the top of his game at the time of the card's issue. The back of the card mentions DiMaggio being "the only player to participate in four World's Series during his first four major league years."

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
