Very Rare 1939 Ted Williams Play Ball #92 "Free Sample Card" Back SGC 86 NM+ 7.5 - The Highest Graded Example. It is no surprise that the first Ted Williams is one of the most important rookies in the hobby, issued during one of the most important years in baseball history. This centennial season masterpiece suggests that Williams "...has a great future according to experts," an understatement, to be sure. As the sole rookie dedicated to the game's greatest hitter, this card is an essential component for any serious baseball collection. The SGC 86 NM+ 7.5 card itself is amazing, boasting four sharp corners, close to perfect centering and problem free surfaces. That would be enough to entice any vintage card fan to hit that "bid" button but this is no ordinary Williams rookie. A quick flip shows this to be a very rare "FREE SAMPLE CARD" overprint variation!
