Description

1939 Play Ball Ted Williams Rookie #92 PSA VG-EX 4. Hall of Famer Ted Williams was the definition of a pure hitter during his 19-year career with the Boston Red Sox. A prolific batsman, the "Splendid Splinter" collected 2,654 hits, including 521 home runs, knocked in 1,839 runs and won six American League batting titles. He was named AL MVP in two different seasons (1946 and '49) and remains the last player in history to record a .400 season; he recorded that feat by hitting .406 in 1941.

Presented is Williams' 1939 Play Ball rookie card, which shows the .344 lifetime batter demonstrating his impressive swing during his first season in the Majors. This example of card #92 from the '39 black-and-white Play Ball set is found in Very Good-Excellent condition with decent centering and a clean reverse. Graded PSA VG-EX 4.
