Description

1938 Goudey Joe DiMaggio #250 SGC 92 NM/MT+ 8.5 - Pop One, One Higher. Joe DiMaggio set the bar so high he carved out a path of excellence that Ted Williams would later follow. His legendary baseball life started on the West coast in the Pacific Coast League when he became a stand-out for the San Francisco Seals. Amazingly, DiMaggio belted a 61-game hitting streak; surpassing even his ML record of 56 straight games with a hit. That magical season of 1941 saw The Yankee Clipper bat .357 on 193 hits and 125 RBIs. Today, some batters strikeout 13 times in a span of a week or two. In 1941, Joe DiMaggio struck out only 13 times all season! He meant so much more to society than just a ball player. He was a national treasure who gave society a consistency at a time of great uncertainty in the world. Continuing his charmed life after baseball, one of the most popular sports figures married one of Hollywood's most famous figures - Marilyn Monroe!

The comical image of the young Yankee Clipper ranks among the finest examples in the hobby. Graded SGC 92 NM/MT+ 8.5, this card is the only example graded NM/MT+, there is just one rated higher. Sharp corners and crisp edges defy logic; coloring is bright and vibrant. A remarkable copy from the '38 Goudey series being among the more scarce Goudey products. This is a phenomenal investment quality card!
