Description

1938 Goudey Hank Greenberg #277 PSA Mint 9 - Pop Four, None Higher. Truly high-grade 1938 Goudey cards are rare, and few pieces from this issue meet the requirements of the most discerning collectors. The offered card, depicting Tigers legend Hank Greenberg, excels in all respects. Greenberg broke into the majors at the age of 19 and had a remarkable career that mixed baseball and the military from 1930 through 1945. He returned to baseball in 1945 and in his first game, picked up right where he left off, with a Home Run. Hank retired in 1947, after playing his last season for the Pirates. He was the first true Jewish superstar to grace the diamond.

Graded PSA Mint 9. This is one of just four examples recorded at the Mint level with none graded higher. Crisp and clean example from the slightly more difficult second half of the '38 Goudey issue. This is the must have card for the most passionate Detroit Tigers fan or Greenberg enthusiast.
