Description

1935 Schutter-Johnson Lou Gehrig #20 PSA Good 2 - Pop Five. Offered is a rare Lou Gehrig card from a rather obscure trading card series that was released in the mid-1930s. Originating from a 50-card set entitled "Major League Secrets" that was issued by the Schutter-Johnson Candy Corp. of Chicago and Brooklyn, card #20 features "The Iron Horse" and includes expert baseball batting tips from the revered New York Yankees slugger. On the reverse, it reads, in Gehrig's words: "Hit the ball where it is. By this, I mean a right-handed batter should never try to pull a ball to left field that is pithed outside to him. Just meet the ball with your natural swing, and hit it to right field." Gehrig is just one of many monumental names included in the set. Graded PSA Good 2. Of the 18 examples found in the PSA Pop Report, this is one of only five cards graded GOOD with just eight rated higher.
