    Description

1934 R309-1 Goudey Premium American League All-Stars Plus Original Mailing Envelope. The R309-1 edition consists of four premiums that Goudey offered in 1934. This premium showcases the members of the American League All-Star squad from the inaugural All-Star Game in 1933. The 5-1/2"x 9" black and white photo has been printed on a heavy cardstock and sports a simulated gold frame border. Players names are found on the reverse where you'll find legends like Foxx, Lazzeri, Gehringer, Gehrig, Ruth, Mack, Grove, Dickey and Simmons. An easel (as issued) on the back allows for the piece to stand up. Overall condition is VG due to creases and a faint "1933" in pencil. The front image remains bright and is only marginally affected by the creasing. Also included is the original Goudey Gum Co. mailer the card was discovered in, also VG condition.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
