Description

1934 Goudey Lou Gehrig #61 SGC 40 VG 3. Lou Gehrig, the famed "Iron Horse," was the New York Yankees first baseman who started in 2,130 consecutive games to set a Major League mark many thought would never be broken. It sat untouched for 56 years until Baltimore Orioles mainstay infielder Cal Ripken Jr., broke it on Sept. 6, 1995. Gehrig was also a proven slugger who belted 493 home runs including 23 grand slams.

Offered is one of two cards featuring Gehrig in the 1934 Goudey set. On card #61, Gehrig is shown taking a batter's stance via a colorized image that perfectly captures the Hall of Fame power-hitter's determination and focus. The presented example is found in Very Good condition with good color, decent registration and a very presentable reverse. Graded SGC 40 VG 3.
