Description

1934 Goudey Jimmie Foxx #1 PSA EX-MT+ 6.5. Jimmie Foxx was a Hall of Fame slugger who earned two nicknames during his impressive MLB career: "Double X" and "Beast." He was a power hitter who could belt fastballs over any fence. He was a three-time AL MVP, twice with the Philadelphia Athletics (1932 and '33) and once with the Boston Red Sox (1938). Wherever he played, he could be counted on to hit moon shot home runs and drive in runs. When it was all said and done, Foxx had hit a total of 534 round-trippers and knocked in 1,452 runs.

Presented is a 1934 Goudey card that features the burly batsman doing what he did best. Fittingly, he was featured on card #1 in the set. The lower portion of the card front, like with the majority of the series' subjects, includes a blue strip holding a small likeness of New York Yankees great Lou Gehrig, along with the line "Lou Gehrig says ..." The offered example boasts vivid colors, good centering and has four solid corners. And the reverse, where Gehrig writes about Foxx's hitting prowess, exhibits green-colored text that looks like it was just printed yesterday. Graded PSA EX-MT+ 6.5.
