Description

1933 Goudey Napoleon Lajoie #106 PSA VG 3. Few cards in the hobby have generated a greater divide between those who fervently desire a specimen and those that actually own one. The foremost example of this is the T206 Wagner and in a close second is the 1933 Goudey Napoleon Lajoie card, so exceedingly absent that guides offer "complete set" prices lacking examples. One lucky collector is about to switch teams to the "have one" from the packed "don't have one" squad. Young Depression-era set builders, who would not be deterred by the fact that card number 106 was not available in standard wax packs or an angry parent who saw a gimmick when they smelled one took to contacting the Boston offices of Goudey Gum Co., to earn this toughest of all cards that was printed along with the final run of the 1934 Goudey effort.

Graded PSA VG 3. A very nice example without a major physical flaw. The back shows some overall mild to modest toning which is to be expected after almost ninety years. The upper right harbors a light crease visible more so on the reverse. The very nicely centered portrait retains pleasing colors. A solid example of one of the most iconic cards in the hobby.
