Description

1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig #92 PSA VG-EX+ 4.5. Lou Gehrig, who was known as the "Iron Horse" based on his impressive durability, was one of the most iconic figures in baseball history. He's known for many extraordinary accomplishments, not the least of which was his incredible consecutive-games-played streak of 2,130 contests. That mark stood for 66 years until fellow Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr. came along and broke it. Gehrig was forced to retire in 1939 when he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a disease that would soon bear his name. He passed away two years later at age 37.

Offered is a 1933 Goudey card (#92) that showcases Gehrig's lethal swing at the plate. This remains one of Gehrig's most sought-after cards from the era as it captures Lou at the height of his career. The following season he would lead the Major Leagues in both home runs (49) and runs batted in (166). This mid-grade example is boasting deep rich color and decent centering. Graded PSA VG-EX+ 4.5.
