    Description

1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig #160 SGC 60 EX 5. The 1933 Goudey Baseball series of 240 cards is universally recognized as the most popular and significant set of the era. The cards aren't just from the 1903's, they define the era and set the standard by which all other card sets would be judged for decades. This magnificent issue includes every baseball star of the day including sixty cards featuring a future Hall of Famer. The four Babe Ruth cards are to this day among the most coveted cards in the entire hobby. Starting of this auction is a 239-card complete set (Missing is #106) that has been passed down through the family and are being offered at auction for the first time.

This presentation is for: Lou Gehrig - 1933 Goudey #160 (SGC 60 EX 5). Given the tremendous popularity of this "Big Three" set, this elite status carries metric tons of weight in the hobby. As one would expect, Lou Gehrig is honored with two different card numbers in this classic issue but for some reason Goudey chose to utilize the same batting pose. This more valuable and scarcer version of the pair. Colors are rich and saturated. Registration is close to precise. Centering rests to the right and low, surfaces are clean with just some modest corner tip wear.

    The SMR value is $2,400.00
