Description

1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig #160 PSA VG 3. New York Yankees Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig was known as the "Iron Horse." He earned the nickname based on his incredible durability which saw him start at first base in an amazing 2,130 consecutive games, which remained a Major League record for 56 years until Baltimore's Cal Ripken Jr. came along and broke it. Gehrig's career was cut short when he was diagnosed in 1939 with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a disease which now bears his name. He passed away two years later at age 37.

Offered is a 1933 Goudey card spotlighting Gehrig, one of two that feature him in the iconic, 240-card set. Card #160 shows the slugger with 493 home runs to his credit bearing down on an incoming pitch. The presented example is found in Very Good condition with fine color, but showing surface wear as well as worn corners and borders. Graded PSA VG 3.
