Description

1933 Goudey Dizzy Dean #223 PSA NM-MT 8. A marvelous period remembrance of "Ol' Diz," this beautifully designed collectible shows the personable Cardinal in a pitching follow-through. The image is presented in a manner that spares distraction from caption blocks or other gratuitous clutter; the scene belongs only to the National League star, his field of green under blue skies, and the person enjoying the spectacle of this almost hypnotically serene experience. It's this kind of collectible that's able, somehow, to evoke feelings of nostalgia, even in the very young.

Such subtleties can be fully appreciated only when their vehicles are exceptionally well-preserved, as here. This praiseworthy item is surpassed in professional grade by just two unqualified examples among a sampling consisting of 369 PSA-holdered copies. Points have been subtracted, apparently, for centering (image-field alignment is positioned ever-so-slightly toward the right) and routine - but extremely light - touches at the bottom-edge corners, but the collectible's uncirculated character remains indisputable. The card's back is barely toned, and exhibits vividly printed, deep-green text.
