Description

1933 Goudey Carl Hubbell #230 PSA NM-MT 8. Hubbell was having a career year in 1933. The National League MVP racked up twenty-three victories thanks to a microscopic 1.66 ERA with ten shutouts on 308.2 innings pitched. He would close out the season with two complete game World Series victories without allowing a single earned run in twenty innings of work. This was the first of two National League MVP Awards he would add to his sole World Championship ring.

Hubbell's 2.30 ERA in 1934 was likewise best in the Senior Circuit, as were his twenty-five complete games and eight saves. His 1934 season is best recalled, of course, for his stunning All-Star Game feat of striking out Ruth, Gehrig, Foxx, Simmons and Cronin in succession, a still-standing Midsummer Classic record for consecutive K's. A wonderful card featuring an athlete at the top of his game. This card seems to be a little more difficult to find in high grade. Graded PSA NM-MT 8. One of twenty-three graded NM-MT with just two rated higher.
