Description

1933 Goudey Benny Bengough #1 PSA NM-MT 8 - Only Two Higher. When Yankee Stadium opened in 1923 all the attention was on the "Babe," who had a knack for hitting baseballs over the outfield walls. It was the same year a young backstop named Benny Bengough made his pinstriped debut. While his place in baseball history will not earn him a spot in the Hall of Fame, his place in hobby history is cemented as he is featured on the first card of one of the most coveted baseball promotions of all-time. If the hobby had a Trading Card Hall of Fame, this beauty would be a member. Bengough is quite possibly the most famous "common" card in the hobby.

Graded PSA NM-MT 8. This card is one of six rated NM-MT by PSA with just two others graded higher. All first cards are tougher to find in high grade. They take the majority of the wear and tear from often sticky hands and the full force of rubber bands so commonly used to keep treasured cards together. For whatever reason, this card has managed to survive eight-five years with minimal wear to surfaces, edges and corners. Only centering is left to help explain the PSA assessment. A fantastic addition to any vintage collection. They say you can't trust first impressions but that does not apply here. When you are showing off your Goudey holdings what an amazing way to start.
