1933 Goudey Babe Ruth #181 SGC 70 EX+ 5.5. Babe Ruth's status in baseball was well conveyed with his four appearances in the 1933 Goudey edition. Gehrig managed two appearances but both cards utilize the same illustration. Card #181 pictures the Babe holding his trusty lumber, gazing upward from within a highly detailed portrait. This could easily be a brief, quiet moment for Ruth, sitting on clubhouse steps, watching the current Yankee batter, torn between placing the ball into the left, center or right field stands. Graded SGC 70 EX+ 5.5 the card exhibits clean, white borders which surround a striking image placed slightly low of center with perfect print registration. There is light wear to corner tips. For the grade, this is an eye-catching copy of one of the hobby's more desirable Ruth collectibles. Even the traditional reverse print ghosting is minimal.
