    Description

1933 Goudey Babe Ruth #181 SGC 70 EX+ 5.5. Babe Ruth's status in baseball was well conveyed with his four appearances in the 1933 Goudey edition. Gehrig managed two appearances but both cards utilize the same illustration. Card #181 pictures the Babe holding his trusty lumber, gazing upward from within a highly detailed portrait. This could easily be a brief, quiet moment for Ruth, sitting on clubhouse steps, watching the current Yankee batter, torn between placing the ball into the left, center or right field stands.

Graded SGC 70 EX+ 5.5. The card exhibits very clean, white borders that surround a striking image with precise print registration, supple coloring and nicely centered graphics. An attention capturing example of one of the hobby's more desirable Ruth collectibles. Even the traditional reverse print ghosting is minimal.
