    Description

1933 Goudey Babe Ruth #181 PSA EX-MT 6. As if there was any doubt, Babe Ruth's status in baseball was well expressed with his four appearances in the 1933 Goudey edition. Gehrig manages to appear twice but Goudey saw fit to use the same illustration. Card #181 pictures the Babe holding his trusty lumber, gazing upward from within a highly detailed portrait. This could easily be a brief, quiet moment for Ruth, sitting on clubhouse steps, watching the current Yankee batter, torn between placing the ball into the left, center or right field stands. This is an eye-catching example. Exhibiting four clean, frosty borders which surround a striking portrait placed slightly low of vertical perfection. Perfect print registration (a treat with this card), vibrant ink quality, and slight wear to corner tips completes the notable attributes. The reverse offers a nicely struck name and bio in that unmistakable Goudey green ink. Traditional reverse print ghosting (overkill from the sheet placed under this one) is minimal. For the baseball card fan with the desire to own a piece of history this is a very nice card for this grade level.
