1933 Goudey Babe Ruth #149 SGC VG 3. Among the company's prized quartet of Babe Ruth entries, it was card #149 where Goudey gives the hobby the "Red Background" Ruth. These cards have come to hold our attention on the most subtle levels. Ruth is, of course, depicted swinging his bat as that is why fans adored him, but carefully study the expression on his face, and you'll find the beginning of a smile. You don't just see a man hitting a baseball, you see a man-child admiring his life's work, and the portrayal quietly affirms the satisfaction he found in all of its elements.Our offered card has been graded SGC VG 3. There is some acceptable wear at the corners which surround a nicely centered illustration. An attractive mid-grade example of one of the four most popular cards in the hobby.
