    Description

1933 Goudey Babe Ruth #149 SGC 84 NM 7. Among the company's prized quartet of Babe Ruth entries, this "Red Background" 1933 Goudey card effectively conveys the Bambino's joy in the game to the greatest extent. Holding and swinging the bat - while allowing just the beginnings of a smile - marvelously summarize his life's work, and the portrayal quietly affirms the satisfaction he found in all of its elements. A brightly rendered, career-contemporary relic of the highest order, the sight of this depiction - especially, as here, when aesthetic vibrancy approximates the quality displayed on the day of manufacture - is one of the hobby's fondest gifts to its ardent devotees. The traces of wear at corner tips and a slight discrepancy in centering are the only condition elements of note. Graded SGC 84 NM 7, this card is one of the top 10% of all SGC graded examples.
