    Description

1933 Goudey Babe Ruth #149 SGC 20 Fair 1.5. It would be easy to go into a lengthy essay about the achievements of Babe Ruth but the first line on the reverse says it all, "Home run king of the big leagues." As a tribute to his sovereignty, Ruth's likeness was featured no less than four times in the 1933 Goudey series, more times than any other player. Offered is an example graded SGC 20 Fair 1.5 of card #149 or the "red background" Ruth. Arguably one of more widely pursued of the universally coveted quartet. The technical grade seems harsh considering this is a very-good card with multiple wrinkles and a pencil "N" on front but no major creases, no surface loss and modest corner wear. A pleasing card for the grade. The SMR value is between $750-1,300.00.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
