Description

1933 Goudey Babe Ruth #149 PSA VG+ 3.5. Undoubtedly he's the most famous baseball player of all time. George Herman "Babe" Ruth spent the majority of his Major League career with the New York Yankees. He initially played for the Boston Red Sox, but was traded following the 1919 season to the pinstriped Yanks. He won three World Series titles with the Red Sox, where he was a proven pitcher. When he moved to the Big Apple, he became a prolific power-hitting outfielder and helped the Bronx Bombers secure their first four World Series championships.

Featured on this 1933 Goudey card, he came from the humblest of beginnings in a Baltimore orphanage to become the sport's home run king. By the time he retired following the 1935 season, he had belted 714 round-trippers, a record which stood until 1974 when "Hammerin' Hank" Aaron came along and broke it. Ruth was the best-known athlete in the country and inspired the Goudey Gum Company to honor him with four different cards in their popular 240-card series. Offered is card #149 from the set that shows the "Sultan of Swat" taking yet another swing with his bat. A Very Good+ example, this specimen boasts great color and pretty good centering but shows slight corner wear. Graded PSA VG+ 3.5.
