1933 Goudey Babe Ruth #144, Signed, PSA/DNA Authentic. One of four remarkable 1933 Goudey cards from the son of a Depression-era newspaper vendor at Fenway Park who made use of his position to build a thoroughly comprehensive assembly of autographs from the period. The bulk of that collection is offered as Lot 81374 in this Signature auction, but these four gum cards will be offered individually. This number 144 card is one of the most instantly recognizable in the collecting hobby, though the signed examples could be counted on a single hand. Ruth's autograph is rendered in bold pencil, a conservative 8/10. The card itself exhibits wear typical of this eighty year-old issue, namely edge and corner wear, but the image area is effectively free of condition distractions.
