Description

1933 Goudey Babe Ruth #144 SGC 40 VG 3. The essence of the Depression-era game, distilled into a single three-inch tall piece of cardboard. The details of the offering are little more than a long list of superlatives, as the set and the player it pictures rank at the pinnacle of the hobby. Joining the 1909-11 T206 and 1952 Topps issues to form the baseball card collecting's "Big Three," the 1933 Goudey set is rightfully considered a consummate masterpiece, with gorgeous portraiture capturing many of the greatest names of the pre-war era. And certainly there was none greater than Babe Ruth, who strikes his classic batting pose here on what may be the set's most recognizable card. Graded SGC 40 VG 3, this card exhibits nice centering with modest wear to the corners to determine the final grade. There are 3 small line indention's about 1/4" long near the right of the jersey and some light stains on the reverse near the bottom of the card. The SMR value is $2300.00.
