Description

1933 Goudey Babe Ruth #144 PSA Poor 1. George Herman "Babe" Ruth, the incomparable "Bambino," redefined offensive baseball with his towering home runs and larger-than-life personality, becoming the defining superstar of the prewar era and an easy selection for the inaugural Hall of Fame class in 1936. Long considered the greatest baseball showman of all time, George Herman "Babe" Ruth was the sport's best draw for nearly two decades. His monumental blasts would decide games and the fans in the stands always wanted more. When he finally decided to retire following the 1935 season, he had launched 714 round-trippers, a record which stood for 39 years until Hank Aaron came along and broke it on April 8, 1974. With 2,873 hits overall and 2,214 RBI, Ruth was an easy pick to be a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame's inaugural class (1936).

Offered is a 1933 Goudey card, one of four different singles that feature Ruth in the series. Card #144 from the classic set shows Ruth via a full-body, colorized image of him taking a swing with his favorite bat. The presented example exhibits good color with obvious condition issues often associated with "loved" baseball cards. Graded PSA Poor 1.
