1933 Blue Bird Babe Ruth, Front View PSA NM-MT+ 8.5. It took sixty years for this very rare premium to be discovered in any quantity and still remains on the rarest Ruth collectibles to date. The portrait of Ruth is familiar, it is the same classic batting pose found on the R309 Goudey Premiums (slightly cropped differently) but with a "Blue Bird" advertising reverse, the small group discovered in 1994 was for all intents and purposes this ads debut as previously only the Halper collection could claim to include one. The thin 3-7/8" x 5-7/8" card advertises Blue Bird soft drinks on the reverse and promotes a redemption offer to exchange bottle caps and some money for a Spaulding Babe Ruth professional glove or a baseball. Graded PSA NM/MT+ 8.5, this beauty is one of a pair at the NM/MT+ level with none others grading higher. As be expected, all four corners are sharp, surfaces are blemish-free and there is a complete lack of any creasing. The portrait is finely detailed and problem-free. Not only one of babe's rarest promotions but the ultimate condition level as well.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
