Description
1932 U.S. Caramel Paul Waner #2 PSA Mint 9 - Pop Two, None Higher! Paul Waner recorded his 3,152nd and final career hit for the New York Yankees, the only base hit he posted in ten pinstriped games. "Big Poison" Waner is best remembered for his fifteen seasons of service to the Pittsburgh Pirates. The 1927 NL MVP winner racked up 237 hits, 131 RBIs and a .380 batting average, leading the Pirates to the 1927 World Series where they would meet the irresistible force of New York's Murderer's Row. For over a decade, Waner ranked high on league leader boards. From 1926 to 1937 he amassed almost 2,500 hits (averaging 206 per year) and a .348 batting average. Amazingly, he accomplished all of that despite being nearsighted. He himself said he had trouble reading the outfield billboards. Glasses only hurt him as it seems a blurry baseball was easier for him to make contact with than a detailed one. He and his brother Lloyd are the only siblings enshrined in Cooperstown. The Waner duo are responsible for over 5,600 hits between them.Graded PSA Mint 9. One of just two examples graded MINT with none graded higher. An outstanding example that has survived without fault by a printing press or human hands.
