    Description

1932 Sanella Margarine Babe Ruth (Type 1) #83 PSA VG 3. Though his career was trending downward by 1932 (he still blasted 41 home runs) Babe Ruth still proved that he could anchor a card set with the best of them. Issued in Germany the Sanella Margarine "Handbuch Des Sports" set is made up of 112 full-color cards from athletes of various sports - with The Bambino's main star challenger being that of the German Max Schmelling. Originally there were thought to be four "Types" of this card, accounting for printing variations of the text and logo on the reverse, but it has since been revealed that "Type 1" and "Type 4" cards are identical and PSA has ceased to issue the "Type 4" designation. Sure to be a hit with budget-minded collectors looking for a vintage 1930s Ruth issue, this example, card number 83 in the set, is graded a PSA VG 3 and is labeled as "TYPE 4 - CENTERED W/83", but as previously stated is actually a "Type 1". Minor edge and corner wear is evident with a light crease appearing in the lower right quadrant.
