1923 WG7 Walter Mails Game Walter Johnson, Red Back SGC 80 EX/NM 6.
This unique series showcases both major and minor league players and has the distinction of being produced by a major league player himself--Walter Mails. For 11 seasons (1915-26) Mails was a pitcher for numerous clubs, the highlight of his career was a win in the 1920 World Series. It was his days with Oakland of the PCL in '23 that afforded him the time to produce this 56-card set for a table-top Baseball game much like other games seen since the 19th century. Offered is a "Red Back" variant featuring Washington Senators HoFer Walter Johnson. Graded SGC 80 EX/NM 6, this is the only card at this grade with two rated higher. There are only five total entries on the SGC census.
