Description
Very Rare 1932 Charles Denby Cigars Chicago Cube Complete Set (8). From the John Esch Collection. In 1932, the Chicago Cubs were World Series bound so localized promotions were inevitable. based in Evansville, IN, the Fendrich Cigar Co. produced a set of post cards featuring the Cubs for their "Charles Denby" brand of cigars. The set would ultimately represent the last baseball cards associated with tobacco issued prior to WW II. Currently, there are only eight confirmed names. This series is almost never offered as a completed set. Includes: Kiki Cuyler, Woodie English, Charlie Grimm, William Herman, Rogers Hornsby (FR), Bill Jurges, Riggs Stephenson, and Lonnie Warneke. All of them were at one time partially folded and have vertical wrinkling down the center of the card. Overall Good condition but present nicer. The combined SGC & PSA census reports show a total of only 43 examples.Auction Info
