    Description

Uncatalogued 1937 Kendal Buffalo Bisons (19/20) & 1940 San Francisco Seals Set Pair (2) With HoFers. Offered is a pair of vintage baseball stamp sets and albums featuring two minor league baseball teams. Sets like these are hard to find as they saw very limited geographical distribution. Includes: Extremely Rare 1937 Kendall Gas Buffalo Bisons "Make-A-Team" Contest Near Set (19/20) With Schalk. Offered is a possibly unique 1937 Kendall Gasoline "Make-A-Team Contest" featuring the 1937 Buffalo Bisons. The contest seems easy enough, when you visit a local Kendall dealer (with an adult) kids would collect stamps of twenty members of the Buffalo Bisons and collect them by pasting them onto predetermined areas on this 6-1/4" x 6-1/8" contest card. Depending on how fast kids put together a complete set determined what prize you won. Prizes included Reserved Seat tickets, autographed baseballs, team pictures, a baseball mitt, pen and pencil sets... even roller skates. Nineteen of the twenty stamps are very neatly pasted in, only missing #7 Eddie Boland. One could speculate if this player was the "control stamp" circulated in lesser numbers to limit prize winners. The highlight player is Baseball Hall of Famer Ray Schalk who was the team manager. A rare promotional puzzle featuring Schalk is also available in this auction. The contest card is in excellent condition, the stamps are all cut and pasted down with a high degree of care and precision. All present NM or better; 1940 Associated Stations San Francisco Seals Stamps (13/24) In Original Album With Lefty O'Doul. Offered is a 1940 Associated Stations stamp album to showcase 24-members of the San Francisco Seals. Of the twenty-four individual player pages there are thirteen stamps in place highlighted HoFer Lefty O'Doul and Ferris Fain. Other player stamps include Holder, Ballou, Wright, Sprinz, Price, Guay, Stutz, Jennings, Warner, Leonard and Kiley, The 3-1/2" x 6" Complete album is EX with minor wear.
