    Scarce 1939-43 Hall of Fame Sepia Postcard Type 1 Near Set (22/35) - All With June 12, 1939 Postmark The shrine honoring baseball's elite was dedicated on June 12, 1939. Available that day were the first of what became the prized medium for baseball fans to collect autographs - post cards featuring the bronze plaques that adorn the walls of Cooperstown. This is a partial set of 22 different of these earliest of the numerous versions to come. All are Type 1 versions which have been post marked June 12, 1939 in Cooperstown with a '39 Centennial of baseball 3-cent stamp. None have messages written on them. Highlights include: Ruth, Cobb, Young, Johnson, Wagner, Mathewson, Speaker, Mack, Lajoie plus others. Postal cancellation aside, grades VG to VG/EX due to a minor corner ding or crease) with a couple nicer.

    More Information: Using numbers from the SCD guide, this lot is missing #'s 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 13, 18, 20, 21, 30 and 31.
