Extremely Rare 1928 Exhibit Pacific Coast League Baseball Near Set (29/32). Rank: #1 on the SGC Set Registry with a 50.6 GPA. In the process of putting together an auction we find ourselves in a sea of emails and phone messages. The most exciting part of the job is the mystery of what the next phone call or email will bring. Needless to say when a caller said he had a near complete set of 1928 Exhibits, the PCL variety, it not only made our day, it made our week. The rarity of the Exhibit Supply Company's Pacific Coast League edition is beyond debate. Simply put, they are extremely rare. Of the hundreds of thousands of submissions to both PSA and SGC we find only one possible complete set of 32 subjects recorded. The SGC report shows us only one example of 29 subjects has been graded and almost every name, except for four who have managed to reach the lofty "2" population, are the only examples recorded to date. Acquiring a quantity of these rarities elevates a collection to elite status. Their existence for most is limited to the rumors one hears of some lucky hobbyist who happened to find a singular one-color, post card sized jewel in a sea of musty collectibles. This 29-card near set is missing Governor, Kallio and Rhyne for completion. Includes: Graded - SGC 60 EX 5: 11 cards, w/Arlett, Jolly, Keating, "Duster" Mails, Kerr, Krause, Lee, Reese, Sheely, Shellenbeck and Twombly; SGC 50 VG/EX 4: 10 cards, w/Dittmar, Hannah, Heath, Hood, Hufft, Jones, Larry, Rhodes, Severied and Thurston; SGC 40 VG 3: 7 cards, w/Averill, Berger, Fenton, Finn, French, Slade and Weathersby; SGC 30 Good 2: 1 card, Bodie.Auction Info
