1962 Topps Baseball Presentation Near Set (588/598). Could you imagine what it would be like to open an original factory set of baseball cards from the 1960's? That is what is offered at auction today. For a brief period of time, Topps produced exclusive factory sets of their yearly issues to be delivered to team owners, players, company representatives and baseball dignitaries. Sy Berger, the Vice-president of Sports & Licensing at Topps and grandfather to modern baseball cards would include a note in each box. Sy Berger's original note is gone, but to find a set with the original mailing box and the 5 custom holders that they came in is a true find. These were produced on an extremely limited basis and today are referred to as "Presentation Sets." Consigned by the family of a former-Philadelphia Phillies executive, we are proud to offer a true relic of baseball card history.Missing card #'s 50, 181, 200, 310, 341, 320, 463, 482, 493, and 498.
