1959 Home Run Derby SGC-Graded Complete Set (20). Today, the "Home Run Derby" is an event held before the annual All Star Game thrilling American and National League fans alike. In 1959, "Home Run Derby" referred to a very popular television program that showcased baseball's best home run sluggers in a contest of strength and skill. To promote the show, a card set featuring 20 players was produced but today these cards rank among the more scarce cards of the 1950's. They are as condition sensitive as they are scarce due to their post card size dimensions and flimsy card stock. Offered is a rarely encountered 20-card complete set, every card has been graded by SGC. The technical grades clash with the visual as most cards present in the EX to EX/MT range but have either have a staple hole or pin hole at the top/center. Includes: Graded - SGC 30 GD 2: 2 cards, Mantle, Stuart; SGC 20 FR 1.5: 18 cards, Aaron, Allison, Banks, Boyer, Cerv, Colavito, Hodges, Jensen, Kaline, Killebrew, Lemon, Mathews, Mays, Post, Robinson, Scott, Snider and Triandos.
