1958 Hires Root Beer PSA Graded Complete Test Set (8) - No Tab. The 1958 Hires Root Beer Test Set occupies a unique and almost mysterious place in the world of vintage baseball card collecting. While the full 66-card 1958 Hires Root Beer set is well-known among hobbyists, far fewer collectors realize that Hires also experimented with a limited, early-run "test issue" distributed in select regions before the national rollout. Consisting of only 8 cards, the test set today is significantly rarer, more condition-sensitive, and more desirable to specialists than the standard issue. Over the decades, these test cards have become some of the most notoriously elusive post-war regional issues, appearing sporadically in auctions and often surfacing from old family collections, attics, or original Hires promotional materials.
