1952 Coca-Cola Baseball Tips SGC-Graded Complete Set (10). If there are any two American institutions tailor-made for each other it is our National Pastime and Coca-Cola. What better way to fight off the hot summer sun cheering for your favorite team than with an ice-cold bottle of the beverage of choice of most Americans. The summer of '52 was an eventful year for baseball. The Yankees didn't have the name "DiMaggio" in the batting order but added "Mantle." The Braves signed a young man from Mobile, Alabama named Henry Aaron. It was the year Coca-Cola produced a set of "Baseball Tips" which were destined to become a scarce commodity. Youngsters in the New York area could collect 10 different approx. 3-1/2" x 7-1/2" baseball cards featuring a member of a New York team. The backs offered hints for playing baseball. Sixty-five years later they have proven to be scarce commodities. Offered is rarely made available complete set of ten. Includes: SGC 60 EX 5: 1 card, Ed Lopat; SGC 55 VG/EX+ 4.5: 2 cards, Gil Hodges and Wes Westrum; SGC 50 VG/EX 4: 4 cards, Hank Bauer, Gil McDougald, Pee Wee Reese and Bobby Thomson/3rd Baseman; SGC 45 VG+ 3.5: 2 cards, Don Mueller and Bobby Thomson/Hitting; SGC 35 Good+ 2.5: 1 card, Carl Furillo.
