1910-11 M116 Sporting Life Partial Set (150/287). A fresh to the hobby collection being presented for the first time. The M116 Sporting Life series was one of the more comprehensive card promotions of the era yet are found in far fewer numbers a century later. The tobacco and candy industries saw great success with colorful and flashy insert cards. In an effort to appeal to the sports fan who like to read about sports, Sporting Life took the less-is-more approach going with a subdued palette and formal head-and-shoulder portraits by Carl Horner. The cards circulated as 24 different sets of 12 cards each, complete sets are rarely offered. This presentation comes to Heritage after being passed down through one family since 1910. Seventeen cards have been graded by SGC.
