    1909-13 M101-2 Sporting News Near Set (84/100). After going through our data bases and print catalog collection we can say that complete or near complete sets of M101-2 Sporting Life Premiums are rarely made available. This should come as no surprise as one would have had to follow the Sporting News for five years to acquire all 100 of the fragile paper premiums. Offered is an 84-piece near set peppered with stars and HoFers. Highlights include: Alexander, Baker, Bender, Bresnahan, M. Brown, Chase, Clarke, Cobb/Wagner (trimmed), Comiskey, Crawford, Detroit Tigers (2 pieces), Evers, Johnson/Street, Joss, Lajoie (tape, trimmed), Mack, Marquard, Mathewson, McGraw, New York Giants, Philadelphia Athletics, Plank, Red Sox, Speaker, Tinker, Wood and Young/Criger (heavy tape). With a few exceptions, each has creasing, tearing, heavy staining, etc. Tape repairs are seen on just over 25%, a few with heavy application. Some have paper adhered to a surface, some have missing portions. Grades PR to FR with a few nicer. See our web site for a full list of supplements.
