1904-06 Fan Craze Baseball Board Game. Just a year before Ty Cobb emerged upon the Major League scene, this charming board game hit the retail shelves, bringing baseball to kids stuck inside on a rainy day. All fifty-two playing cards, complete with 19th and early 20th century baseball trivia on each, are present and accounted for (overall EX/MT to NM/MT), as is the wooden playing field (NM with pencil marks), the envelope with four nails for marking the strike count, runs and players (one not be original), a pair of rules booklets (VG and FR, folded as issued) and a hand written school notebook page with scores (not original). The exterior box shows some light overall wear, still presents quite nicely and displays a "Longman & Martinez" painters label as this game was a give-away by that firm. The box remains solid and intact. A nice example of a very tough game.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
